We believe it’s important that you buy a strong and healthy plant. To make our plants strong and healthy, it’s sometimes necessary to protect the crops. At Montis, we exclusively use products to control harmful organisms like weeds, fungi, and bacteria that can damage the plant.
The products used are approved by The Board for the Authorization of Plant Protection Products and Biocides (CTGB). They assess these products for safety regarding humans, animals, and the environment. Additionally, Addenda has made sustainability improvements in recent years, aiming to use as many natural and biological products as possible in our production chain.
Our products are grown in greenhouses. Energy is needed for heating and cooling the greenhouses and for using grow lights during dark periods. We use green energy as much as possible. This is energy we generate ourselves through solar panels and CHP installations. We don't need much grow light because the sun is sufficient for our products 85% of the time. Our greenhouse contains several other installations and innovations to keep energy consumption as low as possible.
The Dutch Greenhouse Horticulture sector aims to be climate neutral by 2040. Based on our core values, we want to contribute to this ambition. In the area where Montis is located, geothermal heat will likely become available in 2030. Montis constantly tests LED lighting and other energy innovations on its products to further reduce energy consumption. For Montis, quality and sustainability must go hand in hand.
Materials are needed for the production, transport, and sale of our plants, and we choose sustainable options! We strive for optimal (re)use of materials.
All the water we use is carefully collected, disinfected, and reused in our crops. This way, we work efficiently and sustainably with this precious resource.
